Sooooooooo much happened

WOW! Everything has changed on Club Penguin. Ninjas revealed, new game with ninjas, and Chheddacheez's B-Day is coming up. Man, that is very exciting.

Operation:Interger

Today we are working on intergers and how to do operations on them. Of course, you learned about operations in my previous lessons. This time, however we are not just adding or "subtracting", we're going the whole nine yards. Of course we start with addition. Addition is different for negative instead of the positive. Like posotive, negative is just smashing together two negatives to make an even greater negative. Here's an example:

-5+-6=-11

Very simple, if you're doing the same signs. Now we are getting a little more challenging with different signs. Adding with different signs are hard. There is a rule for doing these type of problems, that is add them together and keep the sign of the larger number. Here is an example:

5+-6=-1

This kind of reminds me of subtraction except keeping the sign of the larger number. Now we will learn how to do subtraction. Subtraction does not really exist (I know that you are probaly thinking you've wasted your time in the past 5+ years learning subtraction). Subtraction does not exist because it is basically adding the opposite of the second number. Here is an example.

-5-6=_

Do the rule I just gave you and your new problem is:

-5+-6=-11

Get this and you just learned half the lesson. Now we will get into multiplication and "division". There are two rules for multiplication. They are:If the signs are the same, the answer is positive. The other rule is:If the signs are different, the answer is negative. Here is an example of those rules:

-5x-5=25

5x-5=-25

It is quite simple actually. Now it is time for division. Division may possibly not exist like it's cousin, subtraction. Anyways, division applies the same rules as multiplication exept you are dividing. Here is an example:

-25/-5=5

25/-5=-5

Very simple, Here is some imprtant key words.

Intergers-a positive or negative counting number. 5 -5

Opposite- the counter part of an interger. 6 is the opposite of -6

Absolute value is the value away from zero. For example:

The absolute value of -10 is 10(normally there are two lines around negative ten)

That is roughly absolute value for you. That's the end of the post.

How to solve/check equations

Today I will teach you how to solve/check equations.We will learn how to check first. Checking equations is way easier than solving them because the answer is already there. Just plug in your answer from the solve for the variable. But you still have to solve a problem. These are examples of checking equations.

Addition

x+5=12

7+5=12

12=12 (normally there would be a check mark above the equal sign)

x=7

Subtraction

7=y-5

7=12-5

7=7

y=12

Multiplication and division are a little bit more difficult.

Multiplication

3z=12 (3z is 3 times z)

3x4=12 (Instead of an "x" to multiply, a dot would be there)

12=12

z=4

Division

v divided by 3=4 (Normally a division problem would be written like a fraction)

12 divided by 3=4

4=4

v=3

It is very complex to do, so be very careful on how you do it. Now it is time to solve equations. Solving equations are very, very hard at first. Just do not confuse the solve with the check. This can cause you to get the wrong answer. Solving is just doing the opposite operation of a number. These are examples of solving problems.

Addition

x+10=17

-10 -10

x=7

Subtraction

y-12=5

+12 +12

y=17

Multiplication and division are hard to solve with. These are a couple of examples of those operations.

Multiplication

8v=16

divided by 8 8(supposed to be centered)

v=2

Division

v divided by 8x8= 2x8

v=16

(bold means work for this problem)


Hard at first, but a little bit easier along the way. This is very important to do later on. This is a few vocabulary words that are very important.



Variable-a random number, usually represented by a letter. x+5=9

Operation-addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. +, -, x(this is a basic multiplication sign, but in problems it is written as a dot), (there is no division sign, but a basic division sign would be a minus sign with two dots above and below it. Normally written as a fraction.)

About a week ago my previous blog grade came in and i did WAY better than before! That means a happy me!:)Although I'm sorry because I haven't been posting lately(I am limited to how long I go on now).Anyways, I am very happy about my blog score!

Factors and Greatest Common Factor (GCF)

Doing factors are very easy if you really know your multiplication. The process of "factor trees" or mainly called prime factorization. Prime factorization takes one large number and divide it into smaller numbers. Then take those smaller numbers and divide them into even smaller numbers. Then if you can take those numbers and divide into smaller numbers. If you can't divide those numbers they are prime and the tree ends. This is an example of one.

(To make the primes look better, make the most shown number and make it into exponents to make it look like this, 5 x 24)Pretty easy once you know it well. Now I will teach you how to do the GCF, or greatest common factor. The greatest common factor is the greatest common factor between two or more numbers. Pretty confusing, but it should look like this.

List all factors of both numbers
24:1,24,2,12,3,8,4,6
48:1,48,2,24,3,16,4,12,6,8
GCF:24

or

24
48:1,48,2,24,3,16,4,12,6,8
Take the biggest number and find the factors of that number.
Then see if the biggest factor goes in the other number(s)

Quite simple if you know your multiplication. Here is some key vocabulary.

Factor: A multiplier that multiplys another number.
Prime Factorization: Taking a big number and finding the prime factors.
Greatest Common Factor: The greatest factor shared between two or more numbers.

How to do Exponents

This post shall teach you how to do exponents. If you know how to multiply, exponents can be easy. I will give you an example of what an exponent looks like:

33=27

(Sorry , I couldn't get the exponent in the right place, but the exponent should be in the top right corner next to the number) Anyways, you multiply the number by the exponent. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.
